The Border City Bandits were a one year wonder in the CHL for the 2000-01 season. They played at the Four States Arena in Texarkana, Arkansas. The Bandits were in trouble right from the start as the team was managed poorly and didn’t have the capital to fund itself. The team would last only 51 games, and wouldn’t complete their first full season. Amazingly, they went through two head coaches and three general managers in this time. They would also surrender more than twice as many goals as they scored, netting 132 while conceding 283. Their final game was a 8-0 home loss to Tulsa on February 13, 2001, and the franchise would be terminated by the CHL soon after.

The team would be reborn the following year as a junior team, playing in the Gulf Coast Hockey league. They would spend one year there before moving to the NAHL for three seasons. There, they were coached by John Cooper (future Cup winning coach) and Patrick Maroon. After three seasons, they would move to St. Louis in 2006.
