The Blades took up residence in Erie as the first pro hockey team in the city starting with the 1975-76 season. They would flourish in the late 70s, winning their league in the 1978-79, 1979-80, and 1980-81 seasons wearing orange, white, and black.

This jersey stands out, as the Blades wore an American flag patch over their right chest to commemorate the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. On February 8th, 1980, the Blades even hosted the Russian national team at Erie Fieldhouse in an exhibition, with the Russians winning 9-0.
