The Jersey Knights moved to the Cherry Hill Arena in Cherry Hill, NJ midway through the 1973-74 season after failing in New York as the Golden Blades. The Arena was open as the EHL’s Jersey franchise had gone out of business the previous season. The Knights had a decent run on the ice in New Jersey, 18-10-1, although the facilities were anything but pro level. Famously, the ice was slanted so one of the teams would need to skate uphill for two periods during the game. The off-ice facilities were also sub-par as one team even needed to dress at the hotel prior to the same since there was only one locker room. At the conclusion of the season, the Knights were sold and moved to Southern California to become the San Diego Mariners.
